About Us
Gwyn Jones Funeral Directors is not just a service; it's a legacy rooted in the heart of
Swansea, a testament to a family's dedication to its community.
Established in the
1960s by the visionary Gwyn Jones, our journey from a humble garage on Trallwn
Road, Llansamlet, to a cornerstone of compassionate care in the community is a
story of evolution, commitment, and unwavering respect for the families we serve.
The origins of Gwyn Jones Funeral Directors trace back to an era of genuine
community service. Initially, Gwyn Jones laid the foundation of his legacy by
establishing a petrol service station in the 1950s, coupled with a local taxi service
that quickly became a staple of Llansamlet.
Yet, it was Gwyn's venture into
becoming a Carriage Master, with a fleet that included a hearse and two short
wheelbase limousines, that steered the path towards a new calling.
These vehicles,
initially intended for weddings and local funeral directors, became the seeds from
which the full spectrum of funeral services grew, underpinned by Gwyn's growing
reputation as a trusted, compassionate figure in the community.
The transition to funeral services was a natural progression for Gwyn, driven by
community need and personal dedication. Deciding to focus solely on funerals
marked a pivotal moment in our history, one where every decision made was in
service to providing dignity and respect to those we served.
This dedication saw the
closure of the petrol station, a move that allowed Gwyn, along with Marilyn and Brian,
to pour their hearts into building a funeral service renowned for professionalism and
exceptional care across Swansea and beyond.
Understanding the weight of arranging a funeral, we offer to discuss arrangements in
the comfort of your home or at our office located within the chapel of rest.
Our
commitment extends to easing the financial burden of funeral planning, with pre-paid
funeral plans that secure peace of mind for you and your loved ones.
A purpose-built sanctuary offering families a peaceful environment to say their final
goodbyes.
Designed to accommodate up to 50 people, the chapel features an organ,
ample parking, and full disabled access, ensuring a serene and accessible space for
private services before the final farewell.
Our dedication to excellence is further underscored by our memberships with the
National Society of Allied and Independent Funeral Directors (SAIF) and the National
Association of Funeral Directors (NAFD).
Operating under the stringent codes of
practice set by these societies, we uphold the highest standards of service. Notably,
Gwyn Jones' leadership and respect within the industry were recognised during his
tenure as President of NAFD in the 1980s, a role that exemplified our commitment to
the profession and the communities we serve
From our origins on Trallwn Road to becoming a beacon of support for families in
Swansea, Gwyn Jones Funeral Directors remains a family-run business dedicated to
honouring lives with dignity, respect, and personalised care.
As we look to the future,
our legacy continues to be written with each family we serve, grounded in the values
